Candle Care Knowledge

At Joywishes, we believe in not only providing you with high-quality candles but also ensuring that you have the knowledge to enjoy them to the fullest. Proper candle care not only enhances your candle's performance but also ensures safety and longevity. Here are some essential tips for caring for your candles:

1. Trimming the Wick:

Before each use, it's essential to trim the wick of your candle to approximately 1/4 inch in length. This helps to prevent soot buildup and ensures a clean, smokeless burn. Using a wick trimmer or scissors, trim the wick evenly to maintain its proper length.

2. Burning Guidelines:

When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire surface melts to ensure an even burn pool. This typically takes at least three hours.

Subsequent burns should also allow the candle to melt to the edges of the container to prevent tunneling. Avoid burning the candle for more than four hours at a time to prevent overheating and potential safety hazards.

Discontinue use of the candle when only 1/4 inch of wax remains in the container to prevent the container from overheating and potential breakage.

3. Wick Centering:

Ensure that the candle wick remains centered throughout each burn. After extinguishing the flame, use a wick dipper or tweezers to gently reposition the wick while the wax is still liquid. This helps to maintain an even burn and prevents the wick from drifting to the side of the container.

4. Recycling and Cleaning:

Once your candle has burned down to less than 1/4 inch of wax, it's time to recycle the container. However, before recycling, it's crucial to clean out any remaining wax.

To clean out the remaining wax, place the candle in the refrigerator until the wax hardens. Once the wax has solidified, it should easily pop out of the container. You can then wash the container with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining residue before recycling.

By following these simple candle care tips, you can ensure a longer-lasting and more enjoyable candle experience. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us at joywishescandle@outlook.com. Happy candle burning!
